The Berkshire Music Institution was founded by Frankie Deschacht in January 1999.
It came about when he left a school where he was employed as a music and piano teacher and a number of his pupils expressed the desire to carry on studying with him.
Although it is a fairly young initiative, the Berkshire Music Institution is constantly growing.
One of the reasons for this is the way students are taught .
Nothing is left to chance, not only are the pupils not just left to play around with instruments, but they are also taught the ins and outs of things and they get extra support with music reading (a thing which has all too often seen to be neglected by other teachers.
It is also the intention to make music theory and music reading lessons compulsory alongside the instrumental tuition).
Furthermore the lessons are taught in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere and the pupils are not put under any pressure.
At the Berkshire Music Institution there are no acceptance restrictions, all ages and abilities are welcome and there are no entry requirements (Except for some specialised subjects).
A word about the co-ordinator :
Frankie has got years of experience as a teacher and performer, he was classically trained but then found an interest in Jazz.
He obtained a PGCE at the Institute of Education in London and was formerly employed at Slough Grammar School and East Berkshire College. He teaches at the Berkshire Music Institution in whatever style the students require, there are no stereotypes. Whether you want to study classical, popular or jazz music, you are very welcome.
The lessons are taught at Langley in Berkshire, if you are interested, have a browse through this website and do not hesitate to get in touch if you require further information.
